In 1991, a group of Wilmingtonians became inspired by the renaissance of parks elsewhere in the nation. They organized the Friends Society of Brandywine Park and formed a public/private partnership with the City of Wilmington, New Castle County and the State of Delaware to restore and maintain the park.
Later, other parks were included, and the organization became the
Friends of Wilmington Parks. Its accomplishments include:
- Rockford Tower centennial anniversary gala
- South Park Drive renovation -
